PARTICIPANTS’ COMMENTS: SPEAKING A WORD FOR NATURE PROGRAM

“To affect the quality of the day. That is the highest of arts.” I’m thankful to be reminded of this. To be reminded that we have a choice, each day, and each moment, to remember and to live in a way that is careful, kind and loving – a way that is in union with all things, is how I have been reminded to affect the quality of this day and all days to come.”

“Thank you for a wonderful weekend! I loved discussing the Cypress. The yoga class was also a refreshing and nurturing experience.”

“Thought this experience was very nourishing nd provided a wonderful setting where questioning was encouraged. I cannot think of a better place to have many of the constraints that exist around me called out and ultimately deconstructed. Each time I have come out here plenty of stimulating conversation/activities have left me rejuvenated and hopeful.”

“Yoga class was an emotionally challenging addition. Group meditation/yoga/etc. ought to happen regularly. The cypress tree site should be arranged so that everyone can fit into one inclusive discussion circle. As always, this was a wonderful, worthwhile experience.”

“Thank you! I am so grateful to share such an inspiring and companionable atmosphere surrounded by passionate individuals. Thoreau has a whole new influence on my life. I deeply feel as though this weekend might be the experience I needed since I moved to the city to wake me up to actually take action and actively engage in my environment to tangibly work for change. Thanks for creating this space with and for us.”

“This weekend was a gift in a number of ways. It ‘allowed’ and nourished and deepened understanding based on Thoreau’s prompting. I enjoyed the yoga and time at James’s and Peggy’s as well. The movie was yet another form of inspiration. Thank you for the care and thought that went into this experience. The variety of age groups enhanced it. I might argue the case for a bit of time to play – or create – or rest. All in all it was rejuvenating though and I feel will inspire future work and creativity.”

“This weekend has been very enlightening and I really enjoyed all the discourse . . . Looking forward to the next intellectual event here (and the equinox gathering). Thanks!

“Enjoyed the whole weekend!”

“It felt so amazing to spend time, even just for a weekend, grounding myself in Nature and within this community., it’s inspiring to be around a group of people who share similar goals and can offer different perspectives. Thoreau’s message is perhaps more important today than during his lifetime, and I definitely have a greater and more complex understanding of his work after this weekend. I am grateful to have had this weekend to slow down and get in touch with myself and with the land. Thank you so much for having us.”

“Talking about community as the next step -> in a way that leads to Doing the next step -> in a way that leads to successful moving away from being ‘Aristocrats in hell.’”

“Enlightening!”

“ACTION! RAINCLOUD! THUNDERSTORM! OKAY! I SEE YOUR FUTURE! IT IS A WORLD OF PEOPLE! WITHIN IT, DEEP IN THE JOWELS OF MISSISSIPPI, EARTH CHUNK 3, {SILENCE!} RESOUNDING SILENCE!!
